Hockey Allstar Game 2008 - 2009
Posted in HomeBy adminOn 02/11/17List of NHL All Star Game broadcasters. The following is a list of the television networks American, Canadian and French Canadian and announcers that have broadcast the National Hockey League All Star Game over the years. American televisioneditThe Challenge Cup replaced the All Star Game in 1. Staged at Madison Square Garden, the Challenge Cup was a best of 3 series between the NHL All Stars against the Soviet Union national squad. Games 1 and 3 were shown on the NHL Network, while Game 2 was carried, in bizarre fashion, on CBS. First, only the third period was aired on CBS as part of CBS Sports Spectacular, which had a problem with the dasher board advertising that the NHL sold at Madison Square Garden. The network after complaints from other CBS sponsors refused to allow the ads to be shown as a result, viewers were unable to view the far boards above the yellow kickplate, and could only see players skates when the play moved to that side of the ice. Rookies only competed for their respective teams in the NHL All Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. RookieseditThe rookies only competed in the NHL All Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. Ekblad, Forsberg and Gaudreau, who were promoted to the All Star Game as injury replacements. WithdrawneditPrior to the draft, seven players withdrew due to injuries. Only six of seven withdrawn players were replaced by the beginning of the All Star weekend, leaving an uneven amount of players to compete in the All Star Game. Ultimately, it was Team Toews who had one less player after the draft. Although Sidney Crosby originally did not have a replacement named, it was later decided that skills competition rookie Johnny Gaudreau would take his spot in the game. Three withdrawn players were eventually replaced by rookies who were originally slated to only participate in the skills competitions, while four others were replaced by other NHL players assigned to the Game by the league. The day of the game, Tyler Johnson withdrew due to a lower body injury although already having been selected to Team Toews, a replacement was not named and the teams roster remained reduced by two players.
